Build a Routine

Sep 03, 2020

Change is inevitable.

Brit Barron, author of “Worth It”, said something about “CHANGE” that really struck me, especially during these turbulent times. “Every change involves a loss”.

Sometimes the loss is small so a simple nod of recognition will do. Other times the loss may be so big, you’ll want to grieve over it. The key is to recognize the loss and take time to process it however you need to. This is part of letting go of the past and moving forward with the change.

Our routines of daily living have been severely disrupted by the COVID pandemic. Many people are working from home, businesses are closed or operating differently, you can’t socialize the way you used to, your old habits have been thrown out because the basic elements of your day have shifted. Many of us feel like we are in a dinghy, cut loose and drifting across a vast sea, with our sense of time and routine vanished. It is time to recognize the loss of “the way things were” and get moving on.

This month’s theme is “Build a Routine” for a good reason! We’ve all been thrown off what we used to do. Since it seems like we will live in this current state of things for sometime to come, let’s get going!

I encourage you to set a new routine for your exercise! I love that we have a reservation system for the STRONG and ZONE areas, Group Training, Tennis Lessons, Personal Training, and tennis courts – these reservations help to keep you accountable. Make a reservation and keep it!

If you are “starting over” with your fitness routine, a great place to start is 2X/week Strength Training and 2X per week cardio (cycling, tennis, elliptical, treadmill, rowers…). That is a good balance of what your body needs. Let us know if we can help you get started again with a Personal Training or Tennis Lesson appointment.
