Robin-Collective Health
May 18, 2020COLLECTIVE HEALTH
Like all of us, Doug and I are concerned with the Covid 19 and our collective health. The Club is a great community where all enjoy each other and along with tennis and fitness. So we all need to take the appropriate precautions. Doug continues to watch the worldwide status, local incidents and applicable health warnings. We will be following any and all public health guidelines as they develop.
What BTTC is doing:
-
We are putting in plans to increase the extent of the daily cleaning of all the machines and all of the club.
-
We have already taken measures to remind staff about the necessity to frequently wash hands with soap and water and or to use hand sanitizer
-
We sanitize shared equipment (computers, telephones) after use.
-
We sanitize door handles several times daily
-
We are following the CDC guidelines and requesting that any employee who has symptoms of acute respiratory illness are recommended to stay home and not come to work until they are free of fever (100.4° F [37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants).
Reminder for our BTTC Community: We are a wonderful community with individual responsibility to practice everyday preventive actions that can help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.
-
Instead of shaking hands, use a friendly “toe touch”. This will also help you work on your balance!
-
Please stay home if you are sick! Its going to be better for your body if your rest.
-
Please always wipe down equipment after you use it. You may even want to wipe it down before if you want to be extra careful. We provide a spray cleaner and yellow towels for you.Our cleaner in the spray bottles is a product called H2Orange2 (made of cold-pressed orange oil and hydrogen peroxide) which is a general cleaner, virucide, and sanitizer. Here are the product specs:
Sanitizer: Kills 99.99% of common bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus faecalis, and Escherichia coli).
Virucide:: Kills 99.9% specified viruses (Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, Influenza A2/Japan, HBV and HIV-1).
Degreaser: Cuts grease with neutral pH. Use on any water-safe surface. Grease-free, residue-free results.
Deodorizer: Kills odor causing bacteria. Penetrates surfaces, oxidizes and kills source of odor.
What we do as individuals will have the biggest impact. In addition, here is what the CDC and Health Organization recommend as appropriate individual actions.
Wash your hands frequently, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an 60% alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If you sing the song “Row Row Row your Boat” that’s about 20 seconds.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.
Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider. Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
Thank you for helping us to stay a healthy, happy part of your life!
