Cornucopia of Thankfulness

Nov 02, 2022

I love celebrating holidays. And Thanksgiving is one of the best. For me, it is not about the food (although I do love a good roasted turkey, gravy, and stuffing) it's about family and giving thanks.

So I’ll start first with YOU! Thank you for being a part of the Bellingham Training & Tennis Club family. You are what makes this place so special. I love walking through the club and seeing smiles, engaging conversation, and spirited efforts toward improving your own life and sharing that with others.

Next, I am so thankful for our team who care so much about helping the club to be the best part of your day. I appreciate how each staff member cares about each other and serving you well, no matter what their role is. My role has changed in the last year from serving as the GM for over 20 years to filling in as the Operations Administrator (Jeanette is taking over this roll), and enjoying teaching more classes.

And I’m thankful that we have a business that survived through Covid (again, thanks to YOU) and that we are able to give back to the community.

Here are some of the things we’ve been up to in the last year:

·     Matthew volunteers for the USPTA PNW, has been on the board for 10 years, president 2019-2022, VP before that.

·     Kyle –volunteers for the Fairhaven Association to bring you the Winterfest and Dirty Dan Murder Mystery. He also volunteers as a trainer for a high school outdoor leadership foundation out of Seattle.

·     Robin – on the Board of the Fairhaven Association since 2019, currently serving as president. Also served for 4 years on the Fairhaven Parking Task Force

·     Michelle – has been on the Arthritis Foundation Committee for 17 years, working to help organize many events including the Jingle Bell Run. Volunteers on the BP Outreach to bring Christmas to 100's of Whatcom County Families.

·     Doug – Volunteers his music – he plays the French horn for the Skagit Symphony, Whatcom Wind Ensemble, and Boundary Bay Brass. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Skagit Symphony

Every year the Club provides silent auction prizes for many charities in the area. We also provide 4 year-long High School Tennis Scholarships that include membership, 12 group lessons, a free tennis clinic, and free tennis camp with a total value over $15,000.

We also provide a “High School Qualifier” scholarships (5 month tennis membership) to every high school student in Bellingham who qualifies for the State Championship to help them get ready for competition.

Giving back feels good. We are so grateful to have a business that is a healthy part of your life and can give back to our community with a team that cares about you. We can all be thankful for good health and the joy that brings.
