Dealing With An Injury! Article by Kristyn |

Happy Late Winter everyone! We are slowly and surely getting closer to Spring season, warmer weather, and new blooms. Huzzah!
Once again, Tyler has been tied up with his heroic feats, last seen careening down Mt. Baker on a snowmobile with a newborn baby doe, which he successfully delivered in a blizzard. Mom and baby are doing great. So I will be taking over the newsletter for March!
I have been noticing a trend lately, of folks working through injuries and other physical obstacles. These limitations create frustrating barriers to our normal routines. They can be small and irritating, or more dramatic and bothersome.
Pain and discomfort are also compounded with stress, which we all have enough of for sure! It’s so infuriating not being able to do what you want to do, especially when there is a surplus of motivation and intention.
I want to urge you to do exactly what it is you can do in this given moment and time. There is always something we can do, even if it does not look like your typical routine. Movement is therapeutic, even if it isn’t your favorite form. Coming to the club and socializing just a little, feeling a sense of community, moving our bodies- all of these provide endorphins that help us move forward and closer to a full recovery!
A significant amount of folks, dealing with myriad limitations, take our group fitness classes all the time. I want to emphasize that in all of our classes, we trainers do our best to help modify and substitute exercises in order to work around your current limitation. Not only do you get to come work up a sweat, but you have the added benefit of camaraderie with others in a safe space.
Chances are, if you are dealing with an injury, you have dealt with one in the past. Try and remember that you got through that one, and you will get through this one too! Do what you can do, and you can get there with consistency and patience. Even if it means begrudgingly listening to Tyler.
Happy moving!
