Enjoy Life!
Oct 05, 2021
October’s theme is “Enjoy Life!” and that is easy to do for me because it is my birthday month. I have a couple of traditions that I have kept for many years… |
Every year on my birthday, I go for a bike ride for as many miles as I am old. I know, this isn’t for everyone, but at least I’m not the only crazy one - Elizabeth Sheinkopf and I have both done this on our birthdays for many years. |

As I look at the odometer every once and awhile, I think about myself at that age of miles. Where was I? Who were my friends? What was I doing? How did I feel? I always feel so happy and content recalling those memories.
I like to spend time thinking about where I’ve been in life, where I am now, and where I want to go. I hope you might do the same.
Here’s a little game you can play with friends or do it on your own. Write down all the numbers for how old you are 1, 2, 3, 4 ….. 58, 59, 60 (yikes! I’m 60 this year!), then cut up the numbers and toss them in a bowl. Draw out one number and remember or tell a memory of what you were doing or what you were like at that age.
This is a lovely walk down memory lane to honor where you have come from.
As a part of Enjoying Life, you can take look back and remember all the parts that have made you who you are today. I feel fortunate that I have so many significant people who’ve been friends and mentors, that I’ve been open to opportunities that have come my way, and have taken risks from working on a crab processing boat in Alaska, Skydiving in Snohomish, and even buying and managing a tennis and health club (wink-wink). |
I think one key to enjoying life is appreciating the people you are with, doing things with passion, and being open to the opportunities that come your way.
