It's a New Year!

Jan 20, 2021

Can it really be true? 2020 is over! There seems to be a light at the end of this pandemic tunnel.

Vaccines are slowly becoming available, the days are getting longer, and we are now open. There is still no dancing in the streets, but I look forward to getting back to being at the club and working. I had a hard time acting as if I was on vacation. I was more anxious than I thought I would be. I do not think my family was particularly thrilled that I was always around, but we survived with plenty of dog walks and scrabble games around the fireplace.

I love my job. This was so apparent to me when we temporarily closed. I missed being around other people. I missed all the fabulous fellow employees. I missed chatting with all the great members that keep me informed about their lives, feelings, and opinions. I missed telling most of you to move your feet, watch the ball, and make sure you have fun while playing. I missed the routine of work.

It is now time to make sure work stays. The mandates and guidelines that Doug and Robin have so tirelessly kept up on are keeping all of us more comfortable about being here in this uncertain time.

I believe it became apparent to most of us that exercise and socializing are so important to a balanced life. Yes, we must wear masks and yes, it is not the most comfortable way to exercise but there are some positives you can find.

We are helping in curbing the pandemic, we are making sure we stay open by following the rules, and there is a healthy positive out of working out with a mask (see Robin’s article in this newsletter on the benefits of wearing a mask while exercising). The world will continue and someday COVID-19 will be a weird memory.

If we just keep being healthy and follow the rules we will get through this strange and difficult time. Let’s look forward to making 2021 a great comeback year!

Be Safe. Be Strong. Be Kind.
